Information, Advice & Guidance: One-to-one support

We feel that it is important that our students receive impartial and unbiased careers information, advice and guidance to help them make informed decisions, support them in unlocking their potential and move them towards realising their ambitions.

The world of education and work is changing, with new courses, pathways and careers emerging.  We are here to help our students navigate through these changes.

Our students can access our qualified Careers Adviser, Helen Green for one-to-one support. 

She can support students with:

  • Planning for the future – discussing careers/jobs and the best routes into them
  • Generating career ideas
  • Choosing options and what suites them best
  • Choosing and apply for a course –University or College
  • Completing application forms, CVs and letters of application.
  • Finding work or an apprenticeship.
  • Job hunting techniques including mock interviews

Parents/Carers

If parents/carers wish to attend their son or daughters careers interview or just want to chat about their child’s future, can ring school, email or give Helen a call.

We subscribe to U-explore that can be used by students and their parents/carers:

www.u-explore.comA free careers resource that contains a wealth of careers information to inspire students about their futures. 

U-explore provides information on different careers, entry routes and qualifications, option choices and what certain qualifications involve.  Students and parents can register their details on the website to gain access to:

  • A wealth of exciting careers
  • 2,000 written and video job profiles across 14 industry sectors
  • 360-degree virtual tours of real work environments
  • Advanced search facilities for those who have no career ideas —search by favourite subjects, qualifications and interests to produce a list of possible careers

To gain access you will need the school licence code which can be found on the careers website poster on the careers room door/display or by asking Helen
